WHAT AGES DOES HORIZON KIDS SERVE?
Horizon Kids children’s ministry is designed for children birth through 4th grade and has age-appropriate environments for each of the different age groups. Horizon Kids is broken into three sections: infants and toddlers, preschoolers and elementary.
WHAT DO YOU TEACH THE CHILDREN?
Horizon kids teaches basic Biblical truths in exciting environments. We use relevant curriculum (Orange) that is designed to communicate basic truths about God, Jesus Christ, and the Christian faith, and parents are encouraged to partner with Horizon Kids to continue faith development at home throughout the week through a take home Parent Cue.
WILL MY CHILD BE SAFE?
Horizon Kids children’s ministry has many security precautions in place to ensure the safety of your child. We use a computerized check-in system that prints name tags for your children including allergy information and a matching parent pick-up tag. This pick-up tag must be presented for your child to be released.
All children’s ministry staff and volunteers are required to complete a reference and criminal background check as well as an orientation before having contact with children and all team members work together to ensure your child has a safe and fun environment. In each environment there are at least 2 CPR and First Aid trained personnel.
HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY CHILD NEEDS ME?
For all parents, we ask you to be aware of the two screens located on the front of each side of the worship center. If you see a number appear, please check your parent pick-up tag to see if it is your number.
If your number appears, please return to Horizon Kids as it means we can use your assistance in making your child’s experience in horizon kids a success.
IS MY KID TOO SICK FOR CHURCH?
To ensure the health of all the children and volunteers in Horizon Kids, parents are asked not to bring children, who have, or have had any of the following symptoms within the past 24 hours:
Fever, colored nasal discharge, conjunctivitis (“pink eye”), eye or ear discharge, vomiting or diarrhea, skin infections, head lice, chronic cough or sore throat, cold sores around the mouth, impetigo, active chicken pox or chicken pox vaccine within 3 days, or any acute infectious disease.
CAN I BRING MY BABY INTO THE SERVICE?
We love kids which is why we create fun, safe, and clean environments where they can meet Jesus on their level.
We understand there are times when you may choose to bring your child into the auditorium with you. We ask that you choose seats on a back row so you may exit quickly should your child become restless or noisy.
If your child becomes a distraction to others, a welcome team member may ask you to enjoy the rest of the service from the lobby or mom’s room. Each of these environments allows parents to view the service with live video and audio with their child.
IS THERE ANYTHING FOR MY SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD?
All children are welcome in Horizon Kids! We believe that all children are created in God’s image and that every child has value to God – and us!
We are excited to offer SHINE Exceptional Needs during the 9:30 am Worship Celebration as a specially designed space for children who need individualized attention and space that is quiet with trained volunteers who develop a plan to ensure parents are confident their child is receiving excellent care while they worship.
In addition to our self-contained exceptional needs classroom, we also offer a sidekick program. If your child’s accommodation plan includes time in one of our typical children’s environments, your child will be paired with a sidekick who will accompany them any time they leave the Shine classroom.
WHAT ABOUT INFANT BAPTISM?
In the Bible we find parents bringing children to Jesus. He held them and prayed for them and told us to welcome them. But he did not baptize them, and he did not tell anyone to baptize them.
We DO find Biblical examples of child dedication, and we encourage parents to follow this example.
