Confidence in Christ
We can have confidence because God has called us to be part of the Body of Christ, and He has already equipped us to carry out His mission. We simply need to learn to hear Him and lean into our talents and tap into our Spiritual Gifts.

- Dougie Medlin and Laura Sayre, New Horizon Church
Dougie Medlin, a Durham native, brings two decades of early childhood education and judicial support to her role as Director of Special Operations at NHC. Dougie has attended New Horizon Church since 2000. When she’s not supporting the ministries of New Horizon, she enjoys crafting and homesteading. She loves doing ministry with her loving husband, Kevin, and daughter, Katelyn.

Laura Sayre is wife to New Horizon Lead Pastor Dwayne Sayre with three sons, a daughter-in-law, and two life-altering granddaughters. Laura says, “After more than four decades of walking with Jesus (sometimes stumbling, sometimes crawling, I love how He repeatedly teaches me how much I misunderstand and even more so how much He walks beside and before me every step of the way”.
How to Follow Jesus When You Feel Too Weary to Walk
Weariness comes in lots of different flavors. Maybe it's wearing you out to keep up with your job, with your family, in your neighborhood, or even just trying to make sure you don't forget the toothpaste on your next online grocery order. But weary-ness is the worst when you start to feel like you just can't keep up with Jesus--when reading the Bible, making it to church, small group, and praying feels like a battle. In this workshop we are going to look at the Scriptures and learn from the prophet Elijah, Jesus's teachings, the apostle Paul's example and others to garner practical help and hope for this journey that feels too much for us but certainly is not for our sovereign God.

- Meg Lybrand, Hope Creek Church
Meg is wife of Brett Lybrand, Lead Pastor of Hope Creek Church, and is a mom to four children. She is ultimately a lover of Jesus who understands what is to to depend on Him, especially when life gets hard.
Chasing Jesus through Depression and Anxiety
Do you ever feel like you are just going through the motions of life but not really going anywhere? Ever feel like giving up but you can’t because you have so much to do and so many people counting on you? Is anxiety or depression keeping you from the fullness of God? If any of this sounds familiar, then this is the workshop for you! Together, we will discover how it is possible to change your life by changing your thoughts. Join me as I share my journey of darkness and how God pulled me out of my pit and rescued me from anxiety, depression and bitterness. If He can do it for me, He can do it for you!

- Beth Moody, Revolve Church
Beth Moody, along with her husband Jeff, launched Revolve Church in 2012. She is also a mother to four amazing children. Her greatest joy is showing others how the living word applies to their life and helping them grow in their relationship with Christ. Beth is a Bible teacher and currently serves as the Family Ministry Pastor at Revolve Church.
Bible Study 101
In our fast food culture filled with short attention spans and jammed packed schedules, diving into reading the Bible seems to be pushed to the back burner. But even when we read the Bible, few of us actually study it. As women of God, often finding ourselves in positions to disciple children, friends, and family, we must first learn how to accurately interpret Scripture if we are to walk it out in our own lives – something very few of us are taught! In this workshop, we’ll break down the basics of studying the precious gift of the Bible and practice interpreting its content with wisdom and in truth.

- Dani Huizar, New Horizon Church
Dani holds a degree in Biblical Studies & Worship Arts, and is passionate about Biblical literacy, especially in the lives of women and children. She is a wife, a mother of two daughters, with a third daughter on the way in July, and a testimony to the mercy and power of God to renew and restore what has been broken.
Foundations of Prayer
In our fast food culture filled with short attention spans and jammed packed schedules, diving into reading the Bible seems to be pushed to the back burner. But even when we read the Bible, few of us actually study it. As women of God, often finding ourselves in positions to disciple Prayer is the lifeline of our walk with Christ, but it's also one of the biggest struggles that many Christians experience. How do we pray? Is there a right way and a wrong way? How can we deepen our prayer lives and learn to hear from God outside of the family meal or night time prayer with our kids? Let's dive into the foundations of prayer!

- Tiffany Hall & Sarah May, New Horizon Church
Tiffany is a wife and homeschool mom to four amazing children. Born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains, she has attended New Horizon Church since 2011. Tiffany is passionate about the Lord and steadily leans on Him daily. She enjoys being outdoors and growing her small homestead.
